After weeks of searching I found her. The one I have been looking for. The perfect length, the perfect fullness, the perfect everything... my pleated leather skirt (shop her here). I saw her hanging there, shining in all her glory, in the window at the ever so addicting clothing boutique THREAD (one of the many gems of the Columbus fashion scene). I knew she had to be mine.
This is one of those items people buy because it's so beautiful but get so excited to have it that they don't really think about what they can style it with. Well, let me tell you... there are so many options. so many. I love it so much I have thought of ways I could style it as pajamas so I wouldn't have to take it off at the end of the day (kidding, but seriously).
This piece is incredibly versatile. Like leather pants, the pleated skirt can be dressed up or down. You can wear it with a sleeveless lace top and cropped jacket or a plaid button up. I kept it simple with a silk vince blouse (similar here), jimmy choo booties, and a vintage gucci cross body bag (straight out of grandmas closet). I topped the look off with minimal accessories to keep the focus on the skirt.
The black and silver david yurman necklace is color friends with the booties, while the peacock cuff pulls in the navy and oxblood to complete the look -the rich colors make a statement while still complimenting one another.
seriously... this is one of those items that will call to you each time you shuffle through your closet- leather isn't going anywhere and skirts have been around since clothing existed so, once again, justified! (warning: this is a dangerous thought process and can lead to eating ramen noodles so you can afford to shop)
